Hi, I'm Lisa Dawn Angerame. I'm one of the founding partners of Nava NYC, a collective of nine yoga and meditation teachers in New York City. Our website is www.NavaNYC.com. Today, I will be talking to you about meditation. The yoga practice is actually designed to help you sit in meditation. The Yogis were doing this all along. They would spend their time practicing the physical postures and making themselves open, so they could sit for long periods of time, in a meditation seat. So all the poses that we're going to show you help you open up your hips, your back, and your heart, so you are ready to sit in meditation. The first pose is downward facing dog.

So come onto your hands and knees, extend your legs back, downward facing dog. Stay here for five breaths. Standing forward, bend - separate your feet a little bit. Fold yourself forward. Release your hands to the floor, and release your head -- standing forward bend. Squat position - widen your feet, bend your knees. Begin to descend down. Take your hands into prayer. Press your elbows against your knees. Bring your spine up tall, and breathe. Seated forward bend - extending your legs out in front of you, keeping your hands by your side; walk your hands forward and fold your chest over your legs. Hold on to your feet, or your ankles, or have your hands on your legs, and breathe. Janusirsana - bring your knee up into your chest. Open it out to the side.

Press your foot against your inner thigh. Turn your heart toward your leg. Walk your hands forward, and fold forward. Do this on both sides, for five breaths each. Ankle to knee pose - stack your shins, one on top of the other, so that the top ankle is resting on the bottom knee. Breathe in, and then fold yourself forward. Exhale here. Breathe five times like this, and then lift up and change sides. Half seated spinal twist - bend your right knee. Place the right foot to the outside of your left knee, and then bend your left knee so that your left foot is to the outside of your right hip. Turn to the right side, and wrap your left arm around your right knee, and begin to gaze over your right shoulder. Breathe here for a few breaths. Come back to the center, and then just switch sides.
Being fit is important, but it isn't easily reached unless you commit yourself. If you do not have the necessary knowledge, or if you do not have enough motivation, then you may fail at your attempt. Designing a fitness routine that is enjoyable and motivating is critical to your success, and the following tips teach you exactly how to do that.

Turn on your favorite music while you are exercising. Music will get you moving. This is a unique way to get motivated to exercise, because you can have fun picking out your music for a workout. The music's beats and rhythms will make your workout a lot more fun. In fact, you may get so caught up in the sound of the music that you don't even realize how tired you are and end up having a longer, more enjoyable workout. Listening to music is a great tool to utilize when you want to make your exercise last longer, because music will make you do more without even realizing it.

Friends make working out less painful. When you exercise, talk to your friends. This will direct your attention to the conversation, and away from the clock. Exercising with a friend is a happy experience that can bring you a lot of satisfaction.

Think about a workout video game as a way to exercise. By participating in one of these games, you will not feel as though you are working out. When you are really absorbed into your game, you will not feel as tired. Your work-outs will go by quicker when your focus is on the game.

When you look and feel great, going to the gym is a more pleasant experience. Invest in a few nice workout outfits that will complement your physique and that feel comfortable. Choose clothing that you want to wear, and you don't feel embarrassed in so you are inspired to work out.

When your work out is too repetitive it is easy to bore yourself. If your habitual exercise routine has become boring, it is likely to lead to neglect rather than success. You will have a much better experience if you alternate between several routines. Keeping yourself interested in your exercises will increase your motivation. If exercise becomes something that you dread, it is likely you will lose interest and quit. Quit now and you may never get started again.

It can be easier to move along with your weight loss goals when you reward yourself. The reward doesn't have to be anything very large. It can be as small as a tiny dessert or a new shirt. Your reward should consist of something that you can actually get and that you really want. These little rewards can be the motivation that keeps you on track towards your fitness goal.

You don't have to settle for mundane workouts that don't excite you. Having a good attitude and approaching your workouts the right way will increase your enjoyment of your exercise routine. Mix up your fitness routine by trying out these new suggestions.
