The Pilates One Leg Stretch
The Pilates single leg stretch! To do this exercise bring the legs into tabletop. Stretch your legs out to about 45 degrees. Lift your head and shoulders off the mat. NO LOOKING UP... protect your head by looking toward your abdominals. Now bring one leg at a time towards your forehead, holding onto either your calf or behind your knee. Another variation involves holding the inside of the knee with the medial hand and the lateral ankle with the lateral hand...SWITCH OFF! Use a two part Inhale as you pulse stretch the leg in twice. exhale the leg out back to about 45 degrees (whatever keeps the low back on the mat). If you aren't able to keep the legs straight, then it's okay to bend them. Do as many as you want (as long as that back is flat on the mat)! End by rolling like a ball.
