This is an all levels class, but some experience with Power classes will be helpful. If know you need more warm up (I strongly suggest it), please give yourself additional warm up time and start with wrist warm ups, cat/cow, etc. before you get started. That said, in this class, your lower back, hips, and thighs, and shoulders will get a major fun workout. Beginners might find class a little daunting, but if you keep an open mind and a smile on your face you will really expand your practice. Intermediates will have fun mastering the transitions and advanced practitioners will enjoy deepening the difficult asanas. You will need a strap and a block. During this class you work with the idea of binding, both in your poses (asanas) and internally with your mind. You will begin by centering with a heart and shoulder opening bind, but feel free to come in and out as is comfortable. You warm up with variations on Sun Salutations before exploring Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana) and the bound version. Challenge yourself with Bird of Paradise (Svarga Dvijasana) as you find the balance between effort and ease, through the pose breakdown that helps you get into the level of the pose you are comfortable with. If that wasn't exciting enough, get ready for 2 variations of Dancer (Natarajasana) one unbound, the other bound!!! Keep your spine long in this posture and try to stay light. During the inversion of Tripod Headstand (Sirsasana II) come in and out where you are comfortable, no need to have a super long hold. Follow this with backbending, core (wildcard of Moonbird Pose (Chakorasana), and some mellow postures. If you have time (because we didn't in class) I recommend to take Pigeon pose before Savasana. This is a challenging class that is very uplifting and you will do a lot of mental processing. Hope you unbind some layers of your ego that will lead you closer to your true self!
